Foreword

I worked on minor projects which usually evolved from my own need for tools. I included many of them in my Utilities page, but below are a few more which I would be happy to distribute upon request.

Cyrus

For a period of time in 2011 I worked towards extending Cyrus. The git repository can be found at Github.

LyX Templates

I can provide some of my LyX templates via FTP. Please send me a message if you find on this site a LATEX document you particularly like. Among my existing files:

  • LyX template suitable for a thesis
  • Plain LyX template for a presentation
  • Richer LyX template for a presentation (background image, cover page...)
  • LyX template for small (<3 pages), medium, and large (>50 pages) formal reports

Ph.D. Template Example/Preview

This template is a flexible and rich starting point for the composition of a Ph.D. thesis. It adheres to British standards and written to suit requirements at the Victoria University of Manchester.

You can see sample pages by browsing the small gallery. Please bear in mind that it is work at progress at the time of writing and not a final and valid outcome. Copy of the y file will only be made available upon request. If you wish to receive a copy, send an E-mail message to Roy Schestowitz.

ISBE Internal

I made some contributions to the internal pages of Imaging Science and Biomedical Engineering. Most of my work involved layout, interface, graphics and site navigation.

Historical

Looking back at my distant teenage years, I can recall tweaking old Winamp skins (version 1.9 or thereabouts). I made all sorts of unusual and flashy designs, including one with my name on it, or even Tupac (don't ask but I used to love rap).

There were also some batch scripts in DOS which I turned into programs with GOTO flow-of-control (a simple Trivia game, for example). Unfortunately, I lost all data from these early years so only the memories remain. Not even my Pascal programs have any existence.

I sometimes wonder if my programming work at the University has any value. Since the same exercise was carried out by large groups of students to produce the same identical and typical applications, I do not feel as if this has any place on the Web. There is a dull and uniteresting nature to all Computer Science homework, which rarely is of practical use apart from educational value that the development process involves.
