Disable disk cache (or empty its directory), then make multiple requests (isolated from the public) and view the log if you have root access.

You could possibly test this without root privileges:

* Install  PHP-Shell < http://mgeisler.net/php-shell/ >

* Make requests for very heavy pages (e.g. 50 items with pictures) time and time
again


* Run 'uptime' in PHP-Shell and see the effect on the CPU. This is not
recommended on shared servers, of course...
