You shouldn't fear that KDE installation. It's harmless and reversible. I use
GNOME on Ubuntu sometimes, which gives me an idea of what WM misses which
parts and what desktop environment is valuable for which tasks. Even Windows
can be good in many cases. It is compatible with many virii.
