| Open source software will become increasingly important for
| governments around the world Gartner analyst Andrea DiMaio said
| yesterday. Speaking at the Gartner Symposium in Cape Town, DiMaio
| said motivations like reducing fixed-term licence fees and developing
| local ICT industries were among the most important drivers for most
| governments to switch to open source software. "There is also the
| perception that in the wake of anti-trust action against Microsoft
| that perhaps the 'beast' is fragile," said DiMaio.
