I forgot to mention in my other post: voice recognition will be useful when:
EITHER
* You lose motoric skills (primarily motion of the hand, which was trained to
type over the years).
OR
* You use a mobile device which has sufficiently-strong hardware to perform
valid interpretation. This makes interaction somewhat easier. Rocking is
another means of interaction. On the desktop it would be silly because there
are no means for quick, precise and unambiguous selection, so handling
layout and flow is a cumbersome task.
