If I recall correctly, a few days after this recent meeting had taken place,
this was said to be associated with trading laws.

In any event, Gates also discussed China's 'naked boxes' as he call them...
he would like others to assume that an O/S is either prepackaged or stolen.
The idea of selecting an off-the-shelf (or off the Internet, out of the DC
burner) O/S is invalid. It is self-serving and unacceptable. And while he
admits (just days ago) that DRM is a pain he changes DRM laws around the
globe as he meets government official. He also attempt to alter patent laws.
As Bruce Perens said, that's a company that says the law is illegitimate
when it does not suit the company. The fox watches over the henhouse.
