No it is not. Many many companies run VMware ESX in production environment.
My last job 300 servers about 80% of the server envoriment was virtual.
If you go through a data center and look at what most severs are doing,
you will find majority are running at 10% CPU utilzation and not using
most of its memory. This it where virtuals make sense because you can take
30 of these servers and collapse them.
