Yes, I actually know this (same with the recent license/licence remark from
Mark). I just tend to write my messages very quickly and sometimes I just go
by the sound in my head rather than carefully look at the spelling. It leads
to other strange 'vocal' typos, e.g. break/brake, roll/role...

I used to write my UseNet posts very carefully, but at some stage (last year
I think) I just ceased to care/worry too much. Same with spellcheckers...
it's a mental barrier...

Anyhooo...

Well, it's not just about being familiar with the program. It extends to
philosophy, reaping benefits, and unlocking one's data (never wishing to
make the same mistake ever again, namely relinquish information and letting
vendors possess it).

I could not agree more. But then again, think about it as desperate last
attempts to cash in. Endangered animals (well, animals in danger rather) get
more aggressive when there is nothing to lose. It would be natural to expect
hordes of shills. Microsoft has just hired a journalist and it seeks to hire
an "Open Source evangelist". Then you have Novell... crazy, innit? Novell
fell for it, but at least it validates Linux as a major threat that will
never go away; it will grow. Fast! Very fast in fact.

Doesn't get them a paycheck though. I have no doubt in mind. Some of them get
paid directly or indirectly. There are vested interest and too much fortune
in stake. See the AT&T campaign... anything for power...

Okay, I'm probably making little or no sense, but I'm just tired.
