The problem here is not the origami itself, but rather the limitations
imposed on creating a full PC design with current technology, which was not
built specifically for that purpose.

For example, the biggest power sucker of the Origami is the display,
because they were built with cheap, but power hungry displays made for
automobile in-dash GPS systems. There's new technology in the works that
is LED backlit rather than Cold Cathode Phosphorous backlit. This will
more than double battery life without reducing the cpu power (the Via chip
talked about in the article severely reduces the CPU power of the device at
the cost of longer battery life, also it lacks decent 3D because the
chipset it needs doesn't support it very well).

Intel also has a much lighter weight CPU in the works. The current
Ultra-low voltage (ULV) chip used in Origami's consumes about 5 watts of
power. Intel has a Core based chip they're working on that will consume
about 0.5 watts of power, without reducing cpu performance (in fact it will
be faster).

Origami is just ahead of its time really. The hardware will come that will
make Origami much more attractive, but the first few versions have
compromises to make with current technlogy.
