I can't believe this would be trivial. First of all, make sure you make a
complete backup of your ~/.kde directory because it might be overwritten and
extended to the point where it is no longer backward-/forward-compatible.
Try, for example:

Now, what you need to do is back up the binaries. KDE will not permit
multiple versions of the same executables (e.g. korganiser) to exist. It
leads to a conflict of ambiguity and linking gets screwed too. Have a look
at /usr/share, /usr/local/kde and /usr/bin . I doubt these will suffice. You
need to back those up and resore to revert to old version. Again, linking
could lead to a dependency nighmare. Multiple users may not provide a
solution, so try a different partition of box. Any KDE upgrade fixed many
bugs, so I can't see balid justification for hesistance, unless something
breaks or gets lost in the update.
