You misunderstood this. What do you think facilitated such large-scale
attacks on the Solaris servers? Windows machines wordwide were being
compromised (people as young as 15 are able to do this) and then used for
extortion, revenge, and vandalism. As Bruce Schneier argued yesterday,
Microsoft should/could be held liable.

There would be nothing more pleasing than a class action claiming damages and
losses caused by Windows holes that lead to SPAM (80% of the overall
figure), DDOS attacks (in their entirety), among other connectivity-reliant
ailments.

As Vista offers no truly improved security and hacks /du jour/ are so mundane
in existing versions, expect litigious actions against Microsoft to follow.
Botnets are on the rise and the world is not prepared to cope with them as
bandwidth capacity is increased by the day.
