When I had a cursory look at this NG post (seen the article a few days ago),
I thought the author was referring to Linux, until licences were mentioned.
Without context, this is /very/ deceiving. Linux can be described in the
same way (as in the above), only without a licence and with /shorter/
installation time. Thereafter, there is also more software, which saves
/further/ time.
Thumbs up for the author who pointed out the /reason/ why we don't see Linux
offered by many vendor. It's like that 10p fuse which the shop would have
hidden in some corner so that you spend a whole pound on some 'deluxe' fuse.
In reality, them cheaper fuses prove to be more effective, too.

It's a self-pleasing article. An author who uses Windows will always like to
persuade him/herself (as well as others, for mutual confirmation) that the
choice s/he had made is the correct one. Nobody likes to admit mistake.
People are stubborn.
