OK. Vista is supposedly more in tune with their normal fare than 3.11
might be. Then again, a lot of the current methods of exploit weren't
available back in 3.11 days, so it might not be that it's _less_
capable, but, rather, less known. Perhaps 3.11 would have been just as
easily exploited had more people been bothering with it. In fact, I'd
almost bet on it.

They could release 3.11 with a shiny new box. Maybe even put it all on
a single CD with a hologram and a 35 character code that would have to
be entered before going to activate online and entering another code.
Script kiddies would be at a total loss for 2 or 3 days until someone
found out what it is. During that short period (longer than the typical
honeymoon they get under normal releases) the monopolists could boast
about how much more secure it is than previous releases based on the
fact that nobody has infected it since release (4 days ago max).

Ou, Thurott, Funkybreath and other shills would all sing praises about
how advanced it is and the inutitiveness of the new GUI, menu layouts
and dialogs. Didiot would have a "survey" ready to "prove" customers
really love it more than anything that was ever released.

That should buy them enough time to figure out some more ways to
explode the Yechs-Botch for fun and profit.
