Avoid salts or anything that acts as a desiccant. Drink when your body
requests it or drink plenty before you begin an exercise or an entire
session. Drink pure water rather than sugary mixes, which tend to lead to
thirst. I hear that creatine helps preserve more water in muscle cells, but
it is probably not a persistent retention.
