Launch Registry Editor (Windows Start -> Run... -> regedit.exe , ENTER)

Search for the application in question until you reach the level of
applications that get invoked at startup. If it is not there, add it
(multiple entries will do no harm). I am not sure about recent versions of
Windows, but in older versions I think I could launch 'winconfig' to get a
front-end to all of this, with a finer level of granularity to startup
tasks. I have come across problems like your before...
