GPL3 will eliminate tivoization of hardware - the use of
checksums and the like to prevent modified software and free
software running on hardware. Companies like tivo$ have the
audacity to use open source software and mix it with other
proprietory techniques to prevent modified software running
on their hardware. GPL3 is the only way to say no to this
kind of mis-use of free software.
