The original ordnance survey was incredible - no other place on the
planet had been mapped to the levels of detail, precision and accuracy
which the British Isles and several British Colonies were. Only in the
last few years has technology reached a point where that kind of
capability can be replicated automatically, and the electronic analyses
are showing that the old OS maps are actually, /extremely/ accurate.
