I don't believe that anyone is saying or implying that. It has more to
do with the fact that the overwhelming majority of people have zero
interest in devoting the time necessary to learn how to use 7 different
image editors. They will chose (as in 'choice') the one that they want
to use and most likely stick with it and use it almost exclusively.

Therefore looking at the SLED package list and seeing multiple
different apps that do the same thing and using the cost of each
individual one to come up with a total cost savings isn't valid. Most
people will select "one from each category" that interests them and
that's it. I don't know of anyone who uses emacs AND vi AND joe AND vim
AND kate AND KWRITE and etc, etc.
