When the OEM works hand-in-glove with Windows, fitting the O/S to the
underlying design, then it's easy. Linux has the capability to reduce
consumption of power when the system is idle. And if you can't set it up, it
would be wise to seek a laptop with Linux preloaded. Yes, they exist.
Hibernation and standby as standard, too.
