[News] PC's Get Cheaper, Software/Hardware Ratio Rises

Analysts: PC sales to hold ground on price cuts

,----[ Quote ]
| Intel and AMD have significantly cut prices this year: Intel is looking to
| clear out inventory of older processors ahead of its new Core 2 Duo chip,
| and AMD is trying to stay in sync. These prices cuts did stimulate more
| buying than previously thought in the second quarter, among small
| businesses in particular, but the market is at the tail end of a three-year

It is worth mentioning that old processors, whose price is lowered for stocks
to be unburdened, are very suitable for Linux use.

Loads of old Windows gear will be available to Linux users as well...
especially when users purchase Vista-capable equipment and put the old one
on highly-populated auctions of supposedly 'out-of-date' hardware. prepare
to find second-hand Windows XP-capable PC's for under 50 bucks.
