Actually, I wish someone would kick the pants of the barcode sector.
Everything you write that includes barcodes you have to make sure you cover
several standards. Some not really being standards at all but mere
techniques dreamt up by someone after three pints of Olde Speckled Hen
(ale).

You get situations of multiple barcodes on a label, one compatible with this
company, another compatible with the supplier another compatible with the
customer. Another barcode that is compatible with Another Company Inc that
is compatible with the supplier but uses a different terminator...

I don't think it is MS's place to do this though, probably more a likely w3
for barcodes.

Actually that isn't a bad idea at all, why not extend w3 to cover items such
as barcodes, database compatibility, datacom systems (inc. data packet
specifications) ... There must be loads of things that could go on that
list.
