It's not if all your hardware has included drivers.  Otherwise you
have to hunt down drivers, which can be hard for some people.

What kind of a thing to say is that?  Try installing Ubuntu from the
LiveCD.  It's a fast and relatively painless experience.  After that,
you have a fully-usable system with OpenOffice.org, Gaim, Firefox, and
more.  Why is that junk?
