Remember who created money -- the evil is in ourselves.
How we expunge it, I'm not entirely certain. I'm
having troubles *identifying* it properly. :-)

Babies will consume approximately 64 million kcal [*],
give or take, during the course of a ~80-year lifetime,
if everything goes well. This is a simple multiplication:
2500 calories times 70 years (I assume a triangular rampup
for the first 20, which is obviously a little off but this
is not a highly rigorous calculation).

Those calories have to be paid for in some fashion. :-)
(Ideally, we'd not have to worry about it, but every
organism has to justify its existence and consumption of
resources to its fellow organisms.)

If one assumes a lunch meal is 300 kcal and costs $1.00,
that works out to $213,000. Of course the actual amount is
highly variable because of inflation and personal habits.

There are also issues with varying costs depending on locale.

The ultimate cost, of course, is human blood.

[*] Thanks to the food industry things are a little
    confused here.
