The online business of the beeb is or was to be privatized.
This whole thing revolving around DRM abuse and control freakery
by the beeb while other online TV and radio stations freely
distribute their content one assumes is because the beebs
content is worth meellions and beellions you know.
Its a big business mistake in the changing world of online
delivery of information and content. I like google tech talks
for example and it takes up all my time.
Regardless of how good or bad the presenters are,
you are getting it from the horse's mouth from the people
directly involved and immensely entertaining and satisfying.
Under those ground rules, you are altering the very nature
of the definition of entertainment.
Entertainment is no longer JUST about music, dance, drama
and action movies. Its also about instant access, selecting
material you want to watch that closely matches your own
aspirations instead of TV program makers
and their control freakery based scheduling.
The aspirations of TV program makers have never matched mine,
and I have watched TV all these years out of zero choice
against alternatives. Program makers should be ashamed of
their control freakery and their continued idiotic strife to
propagate it through new means with DRM and proprietory
crap when free broadcasting tools are out there in the
open source world.
Lets hope the future contains more delivery systems like
google video, youtube and the like.
