Mesa 7.0 released

,----[ Quote ]
| This release is quite important for me since I really would like to play
| Secret Mayro, but that requires OpenGL 1.4 at least to work properly.
| Also, the free drivers now finally reach the proprietary drivers in
| terms of OpenGL support since the proprietary Linux drivers from AMD
| and Nvidia feature OpenGL 2.0 support for quite some time.

An Open Letter To ATI/AMD

| David Stevens, a Linux user and Phoronix reader, had written a letter
| to ATI/AMD expressing concern over their lack of providing an official
| free software driver. David had asked this letter be made openly
| available and shared with our readers.

Now that AMD expects further layoffs (blame the monopoly abuser that
uses "kickbacks", low margin stress, and "dumping"), perhaps it's time to
rethink the Linux strategy? They expect more layoffs in July, IIRC, according
to the Inquirer.

| The released code is definitely not yet ready for the normal users,
| but it's the big step ahead nevertheless. Especially having in mind
| how ATI (now owned by AMD) has not provided specifications of their
| hardware to the open source community.
