They're quite right, of course.  It's been obvious since the GPL was
created that should it manage to gain any traction at all, it would only
be a matter of time before traditional models would have to change.  It
was also equally obvious, though, that the traditional vendors would
fight very hard indeed to maintain their traditional models for as long
as possible.
