Of course that isn't all that important, it seems:

"Some vendors have already come up with software for Vista (such as Magix 
with its latest version of Sequoia 9.1) or are about to release products 
(Steinberg, Motu, Native Instruments), while others would prefer to stick 
with XP (and of course Mac OS X)."

Not much interest in Linux, apparently, among the professionals.

"But by next summer, all major vendors say they will have released programs 
and, more importantly, hardware drivers for Microsoft's new operating 
system. The software vendors say that pressure from the market is picking up 
because a lot of new PC systems are only being sold with Vista 
preinstalled."

Everyone will be on board the Vista train anyway in a few months.
