I think it is important that we make all that stuff (precedence and evidence)
avaliable for those in the EU who research to find supporting material. By
getting a lot of that stuff from Doug indexed as text and putting related
news in Groklaw, diplomats are definitely seeing that it's a recurring
pattern. They respond accordingly. And make no mistake. People read these
things. As such, Linux will rise as a litigious consequence, based not only
on merits, but also the future possibility of embargoing an abusive
monopoly. At the moment, the EU only demands disclosure of protocols and
removal of prebundled components. These requests have been largely
fruitless, so if this cycle of arrogance continues, expect more radical
action. I'm not talking about disconnecting all machines that boot into
Windows because they sabotage their neighbouring nodes and contaminate the
network. I'm talking about a government strategy, such as the one proposed
by the Tories. Open Source can go on the national agenda. Countries like
South Africa have already gone in this direction. And it's one among many
countries that do this at some level of capacity. China, Russia, Venezuela,
Germany...
