The point of the article, however, is that those seeking to commercialise
Linux increasingly fail. People want to free stuff. It is, as a matter of
fact, also the reason why people won't buy Novell SLED 10 when they can get
Ubuntu Linux delivered to their house for free. Red Hat gets it right
because it cashes in on support services. I think that their new chart is an
interesting one:

Remember: time is worth money, but distribution costs are almost zero. That's
why Microosft wants people to pirate their stuff (admission made last week)
and why Free software is taking off. With Free software it's legal and very
much encouraged to download and install in stealth. With
commercial+/proprietary software, on the other hand, they call you a
criminal, point fingers, and have you look over your shoulder rather than
enjoy /ownership/ (not rental) of software.

Returning to the article (I rambled a bit to much), this comes to show why
those who still refuse to accept the change in paradigm (support, support,
support) will simply perish. That's why many companies are closing down.
They don't evolve or accept the changes quickly enough. Look at Sun
Microsystems and Novell.
