You can see why Microsoft are doing everything they can to try to lock
people here into themselves - British Library pays Microsoft for
proprietary access, BBC (Ashley Highfield) pays Microsoft for
proprietary streaming technology when all he needed was a login
mechanism for licence-fee payers (the fool).
When £5 PCs are floating around, the board has been tilted so far, that
no amount of Microsoft lobbying will save them from having to find a
real business model.
