It makes a lot of waves. A lot. They are being named and shamed.

Recently, Microsoft's shill (O'Gara) was caught tying to alter press releases
from OSDL (or turning them against OSDL. Also see:

Where'd They [Microsoft and its ilk] Get That? - Part One

| Is that not a wonder? She [O'Gara] tells us what is in a sealed
| document, that it is about some privileged IBM email. Privileged
| means that the public isn't supposed to learn about it. So does
| sealed. If you go to the court, they are not supposed to give you
| that info, so the logical source would be one of the parties. I
| think we may safely assume it wasn't IBM, and it would be improper
| for SCO to release it.

Oh! Also see this one:

Interview with Dr Andrew S Tanenbaum

,----[ Quote ]
| Andrew S Tanenbaum: A couple of years ago this guy called Ken Brown
| wrote a book saying that Linus stole Linux from me, from Minix,
| and therefore the intellectual property rights are unclear and
| therefore companies shouldn't use Linux because I might sue them.
|
| It later came out that Microsoft had paid him to do this --
| and I defended Linus. I wrote on my Web site saying that this
| guy Brown came through, visited me and I gave him the
| [correct] story.
