Microsoft Corp. employees have donated $72 million to charity in 2007,
according to the company, which announced the record amount at a meeting
highlighted by former President Bill Clinton.
Clinton joined Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer in front of 1,000 employees at
the company's Redmond campus, announcing that 2006's amount of $63 million
was exceeded.
Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) matches employee donations, dollar-for-dollar, for
up to $12,000 per employee per year. This year, the company's 70,000
employees donated to 25,000 nonprofit groups.
