Review of the Everex TC2502 Green gPC

,----[ Quote ]
| It was time to buy my daughter a cheap Linux system to be used for schoolwork
| and playing flash games — well, mostly for playing flash games. In the past,
| I've bought the $200 Great Quality boxes at Fry's, and they've proved very
| reliable, but the salesman at Fry's told me that they were no longer carrying
| them, so in search of my cheap Linux fix, I decided to buy the new Everex
| TC2502 Green gPC being sold at WalMart.

Asus' Eee PC - the disposal computer?

,----[ Quote ]
| A quick Google search reveals the Eee PC runs on a 900MHz Celeron. If it was
| running Vista this would be a joke, even under XP it would be sluggish, but
| the Eee PC comes with Xandros Linux pre-installed - which one would assume is
| less resource-hungry than Microsoft's bloatware. I've dabbled with Ubuntu
| Gutsy Gibbon on my ThinkPad T60 and have been less than impressed with the
| result, but some of that is due to hardware issues. A Linux distro already
| optimised for the hardware would obviously offer a better user experience.
| Apparently the Eee PC is also XP-compatible, with an XP version expected to
| be released soon.

Asus Eee PC doing well

,----[ Quote ]
| It appears that this holiday season the gPC is not the only mainstream Linux
| PC to get a lot of attention. The Asus Eee PC, a $400 laptop that runs a
| basic version of Linux, is sold out at Amazon and Best Buy, where it has
| received a 4.5/5 user rating at both places.

Then again:

Asus eeePC violates GPL say Linux stalwarts

,----[ Quote ]
| Members of the Linux community have complained that the hot new sub-notebook
| from Asus, the eeePC, may have violated the spirit of the Linux General
| Public License (GPL).

Kindle, Eee PC top Amazon.com 'most wanted' list

,----[ Quote]
| Ironically, perhaps, it was the N810 that was the only meachine ahead of the
| Eee PC in Amazon.com's list of best-selling notebooks. Even though the N810
| isn't a notebook, in the true, computery sense of the word.

There's No System Like Linux for the Holidays

,----[ Quote ]
| Holiday shopping season is about to hit full swing, and personal computers
| already rank high on many people's wish lists. If you're going to give the
| gift of a new PC, should you consider giving one with Linux? If the receiver
| is a tech-savvy individual, it may be the perfect gift, and the growing
| availability of preloaded machines means setup headaches are easily avoided.
