IMHO, Merely duplicating Microsoft would be a mistake. Don't 'compete'
with MS on the desktop, they are too embedded. What they should do is
concentrate on two markets, a low end desktop and a high end
MultiMedia device, like the TiVO etc. They should then sign up with a
content providor and make money back renting movies, Internent
telephone calls, games etc.

The low end desktop would require one of those online office suites
like Google is offering. They could get their money back from
subscriptions.

RedHat isn't ever going to make money out of the PC unless they own
their own stack, from the Server and online services to the DeskTop.
Why not get together with DELL on the project. Dell Hat ?

It's like the cell phone business, you 'give away' the handsets and
make your money back on the services. Michael Dell, where, on the high
street, can I buy this ..
