This is not a rant, but I came to the conclusion that the Gnome Network
Manager, seriously needs a make over.

I installed Ubuntu Hardy Heron yesterday on my Acer Aspire and even
after replacing the Atheros driver with a nightly build, I was not able
to make a Wifi connection.

Inspired by a [News] post in COLA yesterday, I installed KDE4.1, which
comes up with the K Network Manager.

Now guess what: The K Network Manager made my Atheros adapter work
without a glitch!

So my advice to the Gnome team is: fix the network manager in stead of
infesting the great Gnome DE with abominations like Mono and Silverfish.

The roots of Gnome was, the disagreements with the (not so Free)
Trollish dual license of QT, on which KDE was based.

The goal of Gnome was to create a *Free* desktop environment.

Simply fix the crappy network manager and drop the Non-Free poison.

Thanks ;-)
