| Think of it as the biggest Linux swap partition in the world, since the whole
| system is running on Debian Linux. The genome project uses open source
| software as much as possible, and one of its major databases is run on MySQL,
| although others rely on Oracle.

Might they try to install Vista and pray that SP1 will not break compatibility?
Or that the whole thing will scale...?

Recently, Microsoft sent its mouthpieces (IDC for a fact) to spread bogus
figures and hype up Windows. Typical fraudulent manoeuvres from Microsoft,
given that Linux continues to gain and Windows developers leave the company
for all it seems (several reports).

| Other operating systems, such as AIX (4.8%), Solaris (0.4%) and Mac OS X
| (0.4%) make the list, but Linux is alone at the top, where it is used in 459
| systems or 91.8% of the top supercomputer systems.
