Ubuntu Linux is Much Better than Windows

,----[ Quote ]
| I have worked with Ubuntu Linux for about 2 months and find that Ubuntu is
| much better than Windows. My computer is Thinkpad T43 laptop. The reasons
| that Ubuntu is better are:
|
| Wireless network supported. My laptop's wireless network card is Intel
| PRO/Wireless 2200BG. After booting from Ubuntu live CD, the wireless network
| is usable. Even you can install Ubuntu and surf the Internet at the same
| time. However, Windows XP doesn't support the wireless network adapter. So I
| have to download the driver from other computer and copy it to my laptop.
| Obviously, it is dirty work.

Mojave, strength of the Bear, speed of the Puma?

,----[ Quote ]
| In the end, my opinion is fixed on seeing no need to run a Microsoft OS,
| unless you're a heavy gamer, in which case you won't be using the resource
| hog that is Vista. Even then I find that if a game doesn't run under wine on
| Linux it probably isn't worth running or there is a clone out there
| somewhere. Of course game companies are slowly moving to prefer the consoles
| and there are even some games that have native Linux clients, like Eve Online
| ( sort of native, but ported with Cedega ), UT 2004, Enemy Territory:Quake
| Wars, etc. But thats just me, I'm a minority in this anyway. Either way, some
| Vista publicity stunt won't convince me or any serious gamers either. Maybe
| if Windows 7 allowed me to replace the display manager with XGL and run
| KDE4.1 natively, I'd consider it, otherwise, no thanks.

Microsoft Tries to Polish Vista

,----[ Quote ]
| Microsoft is really taking the gloves off this time. ZDNet is reporting that
| it will spend $500 million to make a powerful statement to its hundreds of
| millions of customers. I imagine the statement would have to go something
| like this:
|
|     Windows Vista isn’t really as bad as they say. Honest. Please don’t be
|     mad at us. We promise our next operating system will be better. Pinky
|     swear.

Don’t get too excited about those Vista price cuts

,----[ Quote ]
| Meanwhile, speaking of Microsoft’s consumer Windows strategy, Microsoft
| finally has chosen the advertising agency which will be handling its $300
| million consumer-focused ad campaign.

Will Windows Vista Succeed In 2008? Don't Count On It

,----[ Quote ]
| Vista has certainly been slow out of the gate. Sure, Microsoft is putting the
| operating system on newly shipped systems, but Vista sales didn’t benefit
| from the upgrade surge that previous OSes got upon release. A year after it
| began shipping, less than one percent of corporate desktops are running

10 Worst Tech Products of 2007

| Windows Vista: Where to begin? Vista arrived in stores months late, forced
| untold thousands of users to upgrade their hardware, made mincemeat of
| software and drivers that worked perfectly well in XP, ended up lacking many
| of the bold-faced features we'd been promised, and came saddled with new and
| annoying set of video DRM schemes. At least Vista now boasts an option for
| downgrading back to XP.
