New driver for the gamers:

AMD Catalyst 8.3 Linux Driver

,----[ Quote ]
| Last month with the Catalyst 8.02 Linux driver we mentioned just how low on
| the end-user changes the fglrx driver has been in recent months, and today
| the Catalyst 8.3 Linux driver has been released with the release train slowly
| chugging along. The only new feature in this month's proprietary Linux driver
| is X-Video support for the Xpress 1200 hardware, but there are a few bug
| fixes that may satisfy some Linux users.

An incomplete list of high quality Open Source games

,----[ Quote ]
| It is often mentioned that many games are not available on Linux. While
| several big titles are indeed missing such Linux ports, the Open Source
| community itself produced some impressive titles. Here is a short list
| together with some promo videos.

Linux Got Game: Alien Arena 2007 Review

,----[ Quote ]
| I find the game very addictive, although I’m a "below average" gamer. I
| always get smoked in single player game even in easy mode. Maybe they gave
| those bots too much AI (hehe). Anyway, I also tried multiplaying over the
| network and I got eaten alive.

Top Ubuntu Linux Games

,----[ Quote ]
| If you’ve switched to Ubuntu (as I have) or any other Linux distribution, you
| may consider the following free (and in most cases open-source) games, as
| they’ve been favorites of mine for some time now.

,----[ Quote ]
| WINE supports most of the applications which are made for Windows
| 2.0 up to Windows XP. WINE has the ability to run different versions

|
|     * Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars
|     * Need for Speed Carbon

|
| What about drivers, hardware support, and upgrades?
|
| Want to upgrade you XP to Vista? no chance. might as well do a fresh
| install and shell out $300.

The State of the Linux Gaming Industry

,----[ Quote ]
| When I read reports on the Linux gaming industry, I can't help but wonder
| where the Linux gamers are at? Can we find them on the Nintendo Wii or
| perhaps the Playstation 3 (PS3)? After all, I have heard that PS3 actually
| works rather well with Yellow Dog Linux.

Free Games for Linux

.----[ Quote ]
| A round-up of fun Linux diversions.
|
| When people talk about computer gaming these days, they
| invariably mean commercial games running on a Windows platform. Few
| people realize that Linux can be more than just a very good Web or
| file server. Even fewer people are aware of the many open-source or
| otherwise freely available games available for Linux.
