Just as a little update: the host reckons that someone on this shared server
may have had the /filesystem/ compromised. He wants to move my account to a
separate physical server with a fresh filesystem on Monday.

With shared servers, it's almost impossible to know the cause of the issue, but
early signs pointed at an unpatched phpBB, although it could actually come
from a separate account.

And no, I'm not pretending that my site is being attacked because it's me. Many
servers, including Windows ones, are being targeted this week. Watch the news
and see that I'm just one among many. It's a flood of attacks live never seen
before. Actually, I'm fortunate not to be affected as badly as many others and
no data loss is expected (I have full backups).

The trolls are spreading a lot of lies at the moment (I've gone to Google
Groups to view it unfiltered). Don't believe a word they say. None of the
damage was severe and I removed the iframes as soon as I saw them in order to
ensure Windows/MSIE users are not harmed.

Perhaps it's time for the trolls to attack ZDNet, Trend Micro (ironically a
security 'expert') and the most visited site called Yahoo for having similar
issues. There are many more examples I could give, but the trolls can just
read the technology/front page news for further information.

Bottom line: If you use Windows/MSIE, be worried. It's not just my Web site
that posed a risk for a short while. Lots and lots of Web site continue to
pose a much greater risk.

Time for Firefox?
