*Exactly*. This is why the concept of "Intellectual Property" is utter
nonsense. How can someone "own" other people's perceptions?

This reminds me of something I read about last year's London marathon
(on the BBC iPlayer forum, IIRC). Apparently the organisers declared
that they "owned" the event, and therefore any photographs or videos of
that event were their "Intellectual Property". I posed the question: How
can a private company legitimately claim "ownership" of a public space
(central London), and subsequently the perceptions (in either tangible
or intangible form) of those who observe events in that public space?

What next ... is the MSBBC going to declare that they "own" Christmas,
and therefore anyone who celebrates that event must pay them royalties?

Commercialism is a disease.


they'd have a fight with the Disney Corporation and Coca Cola on their hands... Disney owning the rights to some of the most popular xmas songs and Coca Cola owning St. Nick...
