Actually that is interesting.  I wonder what compilers they use with
these (Linux) supercomputers.  IME Visual C++ is far better optimized
than gcc, so it would seem to have an advantage for programs that don't
do a lot of file access (NTFS is way slow).

I don't expect Vista's cost is much of a deterrent.  MS would probably
give them Windows licenses dirt cheap for the prestige of running
supercomputers.

IBM and Microsoft? Not so likely. Marketing stunts are easier to sell to the
feeble, like Cray.


Yes, but I wonder about the compiler. gcc is more believable than VC++, but still hard to believe.
