Ubuntu usage in Ampang Parliament Office

,----[ Quote ]
| Thanks to SweeMeng, I found this blog entry by JomLinux, which featured a
| YouTube video of Mohd Fahmi walking through some machines he set up for the
| office of Ampang's Member of Parliament. What is interesting is that he is
| the Secretary for the MP and was given the mandate to fix up the IT systems
| of the office given a rather restrictive budget.

MEPs petition European Parliament switch to Open Source

,----[ Quote ]
| A petition to make the European Parliament switch its IT systems to Open
| Source has so far gotten the support of a hundred MEPs.
|
| For the petition to be adopted, more than half the members of the European
| Parliament should sign the document. This means the petition needs some two
| hundred more signatures.

Open Parliament

,----[ Quote ]
| Citizens and stakeholder groups should not have to use the software of a
| single company in order to communicate with their elected officials or
| participate in the legislative process.
|
| All companies should be given the chance to compete freely for contracts to
| supply ICT services to the European Parliament.
