OUR years ago I made up my mind about leaving a 12-year employer because the managers had collectively broken a camel’s back with a “last straw” – the suggestion we should all get a “smart” phone and another rather major issue (fake address for the company, which I confronted the CEO about, only a day later).

It all added up and soon after I quit the CEO also left, along with several others. It was chaotic. I was trying to locate the post where I envisioned this outcome (me leaving to do better things). It took me about 4 minutes to find it because right after I had published it (July 2022) I immediately published about 7 more posts to hide it from colleagues. I didn’t want them to know I’d be leaving, as they might inform management in advance.

To reproduce some sentences: “Over the past few years I thought about part timing, as I’ve worked full time for nearly a decade already (maybe a full decade this summer) and I’ve been at the same employer for 11.5 years (milestone coming soon, some time this summer, August 12 being the exact date if I recall correctly).”

Over the past decade it has been full time work, so a lot of potential (e.g. to write) was not fulfilled. I left social control media almost 5 months ago, freeing up a lot of time. The next stage might be reducing the number of hours per week that I work. Maybe a long overdue change. Maybe not even that… the decision is not purely mine.”

wo remarkable things happened today, maybe more. In recent hours baby Durian (the young bird [1, 2]) learned to sit on the doorknob, repeatedly, pleading for more seeds. Birds grow fast, so after a week of feeding Durian (and his friend Peanut) Durian is almost mature/adult size. He’s nowhere as small as he was a week ago. His eyes still show the young age, but the body grew a lot. He also sounds different.

Astonishingly, another bird, mature but not looking entirely healthy, showed up at the door, hanging basket, above the door … and stayed there without any fear of me. I don’t know this bird. I never saw it before. It has unique green eyes.

If it comes back, maybe we’ll adopt it and name it. I reckon it has had good experiences with humans and therefore has no fear of them.

The Sick Bird seems to be recuperating. It looks and behaves better each day. It didn’t sleep here overnight last night (we checked several times).

Today I sunbathed for over an hour because it still feel like another (late) lucky chance to absorb hear and bright light before winter sets in.

When it’s cold and wintry ill birds don’t have good survival odds.

oday’s bright start, with 20 degrees expected on Monday (yes, in October), is nothing to complain about. Today, for a change, the sick bird isn’t sleeping here overnight; we’d like to think of that as a sign of this bird getting better. She had loads of food yesterday as I fed her close to 20 times.

Tomorrow it’ll be one week before football resumes. This very long recess feels rather strange.

In other news, it seems increasingly probable that next year we’ll touch base with the Court of Appeal. There’s some other good news, but it’s premature to talk about it in public.

We’re starting to plan how to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of Techrights. Not all of us are in the UK, so it’s tricky.

HE High Court in the UK has been lied to quite a lot by a so-called ‘law’ ‘firm’ (lie firm) that bullies myself and loved ones. It continues to lie to the High Court, it has lied to many judges there already, and perhaps it tries to bait me into talking back by saying something about very obviously false statements.

Courts don’t like liars. Courts are also smart enough to see when law firms lie to them.

The SRA belatedly realises this is a crisis to the reputation of the occupation.

oday we did a lot of housework and then caught up with news. On Tuesday next week we celebrate another personal anniversary and maybe we’ll have another chance to travel around Greater Manchester before it gets too cold.

Football is back in 9 days, but it’ll be in Anfield with heckling local fans who accuse ManCity of cheating.

The more rosy news, for us at least, comes in November. Techrights turns 20.

he movie “Animal Graveyard” or something similar (not “Animal Hospital”) gave me the creeps as a young kid; I’m not sure if I even watched it, I at least heard of it. “Elephants’ graveyard” also; anything to do with death…

Recently we’ve attracted some ill or weak birds, who use our yard like a sanctuary and even stay overnight. It’s a bit painful to see them in poor health; but we need to do our best to help them because they ask for it.

Will they create a new shell to whitewash their actions?

IVE months ago we set up the shells’ tank to split them apart from all the fish. All the shells seem healthy (to date I only saw one or two dead shells, that’s less than 1% of the whole) and they seem increasingly active too. If their population keeps growing, however, oxygen capacity will decrease. Then a bigger tank might become necessary.

The shells or snails seem to be of Malaysia origin (no predators in the tank though). They came with our loaches. They reproduce very fast.

This week I spoke to Daniel Pocock and his latest blog posts show that:

1. He has made Farage nervous
2. He costs Farage a lot of money
3. He has uncovered additional scandals
4. The mainstream media intentionally ignores (1-3)

He’s not done yet. Things will be getting hotter.
