Has anyone gotten in trouble with their host because of the recent
comment spam spike?

Just bandwidth drain ($$). Over 100,000 requests for wp-comments-post.php. /Huge/ spike in December 23rd-25th. Maybe they rely on admins being absent. Same with Guestbooks, FWIW. Advanced Gustbook had over 10,000 requests for comment.php and over 7,000 for addentry.php. Glad to hear it isn't just me. Join the Social^TM. It's part of a Windows botnet epidemic, which also involves 86 billion E-mail SPAM per day (and constantly rising too).

Best wishes,

Roy
