Dell, the world's largest maker of personal computers, has warned that sales
have missed its forecasts amid weaker demand in the US and UK.
Dell has been cutting costs and looking to increase sales of more profitable
products as it battles rival computer makers including Hewlett-Packard.
In contrast, Hewlett-Packard's shares are up by a third this year in the wake
of its appointment of a new chief executive.
HP?s Sean Owen-Jones? said the company would shortly be releasing desktop and
notebook PCs running Ubuntu Linux. The NX6110 notebook would be available
shortly with Ubuntu and a desktop PC would also be available.
[HP?s] Schulz said that HP?s entire email infrastructure? is run on Linux and
delivers in the region of three terrabytes [sic] of mail annually.
