Apple is seen as "quality enough" to trust their OS.

It does, as you say, prove there is not necessarily any lockin.

I'm really curious about the performance of OSX browsers for things like Yahoo that have become more and more MS-plugin oriented.

Do those users have the problems of trying to browse video and news sites that contain a lot of ActiveX? Do they care?
