I guess they have destroyed anything that has value or potential revenue.
Vista penalises OpenGL (in favour of DirectX) and does not support Palm
devices. Microsoft want to replace PDF, eradicate Flash with what they call
Sparkle, maybe make a downloadable image manipulation program et cetera et
cetera.

Yesterday, in a different context (FAT), I thought about another little
(extended) slogan:

Embrace, extend, *patent*, thereby extinguish.
