In relation to these classic complaints, I have just read the following:

,----[ Some final words ]
| People might be willing to forgive Microsoft engaging in petty fascism
| so long as it was operating in a just way - however the errors mean that
| our friends in Redmond look not only fascist but incompetent. A coup
| de grace! Just desserts! Pure schadenfreude!
|
| I would urge Windows users that are reading this and frustrated by
| the repeated problems with their OS - do give Linux a look. If software
| is free, then there is no need for complicated licensing - what you have
| on your computer is your choice, your own business, and yes, your
| own responsibility. But surely it is better to accept that responsibility
| and enjoy a good old fashioned dose of schadenfreude, rather than be one
| of its victims.

I hope this gives the thread a bit of a Linux slant.
