It's memory consumption which leads to paging that's the issue. It could lead
to significant slowdown. At the moment, for example, I use all 512 MB of
RAM, as well as 600 MB of disk space. Firefox and Thunderbird account for
much of this consumption, which is bearable, but is better avoided. It's the
function-versus-hog ratio that makes it acceptable. I use over 20 Firefox
plug-ins and over 10 in Thunderbird.
