It would have been rather impractical because of bandwidth. When people start
using GDrive, this will become a reasonable proposal. I believe that
Microsoft already have an answer (i.e. rival) to the GDrive. Just wait and
watch...
Think <Google Maps>-<Google Earth>. They already use ActiveX controls in
Internet Explorer (I was never pleased about this at all), in order to
achieve smooth zooming. When polygons rendering over the Web becomes a
possibility, they could deliver more up-to-date content with better control
on their side (e.g. software patches).
